Please consider a video on the Intercontinental exchange (ICE), the owner of the NYSE. it’s trading down to a 15 PE (way below 5 year average) and seems like it could be a chance to buy a great business at a fair price.
Also has a huuuge moat considering how hard it is to start a regulated financial exchange

Correct me if i am wrong but doesn’t apple pay just allow you to use your visa/mastercard via your phone or watch? It should still use their payment network and they should still receive a cut.

My thoughts too. I thought Apple pay was just a digital wallet so you don’t have to carry a physical card.
I do think so too. That’s why I don’t think it’s a valid argument to say that Apple and Google Pay are taking share from Visa and Mastercard. Maybe if something else comes along to replace card payments but that doesn’t seem to be imminent.
You are all correct. Digital wallets are actually a driver of growth for Visa and MA and for cash displacement in general.

Please, can you analyse the following?
Celanese Corporation CE. It’s in the basic materials (chemicals) industry. PE is very low, dividend is interesting and margins are amazing. It’s down almost 50% from the peak.
Adidas, you already analysed it for the YouTube portfolio and didn’t buy ’cause your wife suggestion. You said you would consider it if it would have gone down. It’s down -18% in the last month and more than 60% from the peak. They announced they are gonna change CEO. I would like an update on Adidas.

Since ApplePay & Co use VISA/Mastercard in the background, theyre even supporting the future growth und use cases of $V and $MA. Besides: Still 70% of global payment is paid in cash – long runway for growth there! Got this one wrong, dear Sven! 😉

Don’t forget the risk of the credit card bill in US congress. There is a proposal to instruct banks to support alternative credit card networks and allow merchants to have more choice over the processing network chosen. The goal is to break up the duopoly of visa/mastercard, as there is currently no incentive for banks to support networks with lower fees since they take a cut of the fees. As a result, fees (and CC reward programs) in America have ballooned and are 5x or more what they are for equivalent transaction networks in Europe or China. Big retailers like Walmart, Target are throwing their support behind the bill as they say it will allow them to not have to pass on 3%+ in fees to consumers, and they can offer cheaper prices. Right now the cost of goods for most retailers is marked up by 3% or so because of the widespread use of credit cards (and the high fees they charge merchants). If they can successfully introduce competition in the industry, fees could plummet to the global average and visa and mastercard will lose some of their moat.

The company extremely oversold, reduction of future revenues is reflected in low price.
Low debt, low pe, high insider ownership, high dividend, sells close to the book value
The main moat(s): automotive, meta, mobile.
The main risks: Taiwan, recession.

I am missing the part that visa is well prepared for inflation as they get paid a percentage of the price , higher price is more money for visa
just a quick take this is, I don’t know where inflation will go. But yes, like most good businesses, it gives you some inflation protection.

Online payments should be for free, sooner or later somebody will make this possible.
