The good times! What a valuable lesson for younger or less experienced investors!
Sven this sounds more like a victory lap (well deserved) than and educational video..plenty of trash spacs and plenty of good ones, naming few: pltr, hims, sym, dkng..good companies succeed, bad companies dont
survivorship bias – the thing is that we forget the bad ones!
LOL… “Near Intelligence” – probably could have guessed that one might fail. I definitely made the mistake at the beginning of my investing journey on a SPAC. Appreciate and like the video as as always. Thanks Sven!
thanks for sharing, a reminder is always good to save us from the next possible trap!
Dodging a bad investment is as much important if not more important then finding a good one.
absolutely!
@@Value-Investing Also check out ticker IEP. Carl Icahn’s fund used to pay more than 20% dividend on a 50$ share price. Now it fell almost to 10$ and recovered to 15$ recently. Don’t chase huge payouts.
I remember I almost bought into TTCF, but that share price seemed way too high. I did get burned on STEM. Fortunately, I got out pretty early. Taught me some lessons.
Thank you Sven for the history lesson. Value investing with Sven Carlin is a must watch for me.
Great video. It takes courage to go against the tide. Thank you, Dr.
Super video and a great comparison with SPAC fabrications. 🙂They were presented as something revolutionary, at best…they are forgotten today. The only difference between them and AI is that AI will become business as usual soon and will not be revolutionary anymore.
Well said!
The only problem is that the current AI bubble can still take months to burst… the wait it’s very frustrating.
or irrelevant
@@Value-Investing If you are a value investor, maybe. But if you care about opportunity costs, maybe not.
Thanks for generously sharing your knowledge!
My pleasure!
My best investment has been a SPAC: SoFi, invested around the $6 range
thanks for sharing!
Save this video fellow investors! Soon or later we will quote this one! Thank you Sven for this….reminder!
The SPAC was a vehicle to avoid those pesky regulations and safeguards that the SEC demands from any company going public via IPO process. With a SPAC, you could avoid these cumbersome requirements put in place for the protection of the common Joe investor.
Why anyone would be convinced this was to their benefit is beyond me.
Its always nice looking back on stuff like this, the risks with most SPACs back then was pretty obvious but now with hindsight, its just kind of funny. Kind of like watching cigarette ads from back when they were sold as “health products”. 😅
🙂
SPACs will make history… but not in a good way for suckers.
history is already forgotten and Wall Street goes to the next thing it can sell you!
What a good reminder, we soon forget our losses and unto the next shiny thing.
Chamath Palihapatiya should be in jail in my opinion. I so remember the SPAC craze and it’s not a matter of if something similar will happen again, but when and what will it be. Thanks for the video and sharing your warning Sven!
Yeah, DKNG was also a spac, how did that company do after the 1st year? Will be at $500 in 4 years.
thanks for sharing!
Google, tsm, Cisco, Amazon, micron all great companies benefiting from AI. These are not risky companies where you can benefit from AI. Arguably google, amazon, MU and Cisco are undervalued currently
thanks for sharing!
Nothing wrong with buying PLTR at $10, SOFI at $6, or NVDA at $100 pre-split. You would have beat the market 10x if you did that.
Just because TTCF is a bust doesn’t mean all speculative stocks are automatically bad. You just need to do your own research and if you decided to take some risk, it’s your own decision and nothing wrong with that
good for you!
Quite interesting how human behaviour hasn’t changed in time, we keep repeating the same mistakes.
Nice analysis sven!
will always!
