Just checked, S&P is PE:22.05 and so I would agree that this is expensive, and I am not particularly in favour of making new investments at PE22.
I have spent my own time looking at the investments that Warren Buffet has made in the last 12 months, and then profiling the PE ratio of those companies, and I like to look for the low PE companies e.g. between PE5 to PE10, and I think that these will do okay/good over the long term.

To make a long term secure and wealthy future I would not bother too much with Puts, Calls etc. They might just might be okay to make something short term, but they are not foundation of secure wealthy future.
Also, most or many people have a rather poor understanding of Options trading.

The Mohnish Pabrai value investor looks away from US markets. The popularity of US markets means that many are over valued and many won’t do great over the long term.
Never cared for SPY or VOO. Why focus on portfolio weighting by market cap? Seems like a perfect way to continue inflating overvalued assets like KO. I see many value plays today still however. SCHD trades sub 15 which indicates fair to cheap value on high cash flowing assets. For individual names I really like CVS,TSN,AXP and many other low PE, high free cash flowing dividend stocks.
