  1. From my long experience and countless hours analysing graphs I can confidently say that the market ALWAYS goes to the right

    1. Clearly you’ve never visited seeking alpha and wandered into the dividend yield tab.. only to be utterly bewildered with their “yield on cost” graph 🤔

  2. Thanks for that great video … a fountain of wisdom! What’s your position on DCA for “fixed income” using CEFs like BST, BSTZ, BME, SPE, PDI, … and applying such a strategy with a (IB) margin account? Would you only buy CEFs that use NO leverage? Thanks Werner

  3. 2 different aspects:
    Market
    Stocks
We need to buy stocks, not “the market ”
Some will perform well, others no

    1. Market is not bad for someone that sucks or has no time to evaluate businesses. Just DCA, dont worry about it and you will beat most stock pickers.

    2. @it_s_just_me thats the point now, choose the right ones.
I have addyy and basfy in my sight

  4. Sadly much of my cash is already “invested” in garbage ! If I could start again I would do much better LOL.

    1. @Value Investing with Sven Carlin, Ph.D. I mean if I could have the money back, I would invest it better. Unfortunately my cash is tied up in rubbish stocks that have fallen in value.

  5. You repeat the same ideas all over again but somehow every time I understand a little bit more of the value investing mentality. Also I always get a bit caught in the fear of the future but you keep bringing my head up. Thank you!

  6. WARNING: As the channel grows (thank you all for that), there are more and more scammers impersonating me. The only thing I am selling is my Research Platform and Book https://sven-carlin-research-platform.teachable.com/p/stock-market-research-platform
All that I do, the real links to my content are in the description of the video, I don’t give out my Whatsapp number and I don’t sell any Cryptocurrency related things! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

  7. Hey Sven! Great video as always, thank you so much for all the value you’re providing us 🙂

Here’s a suggestion for you if, like me, you believe that nuclear energy is one of the key components which may save us from a climate catastrophe, being a (fairly) cheap, controlled, safe and clean way of producing power. Being a young investor (24yo), ethics and sustainability are very important to my investment strategy.

The company I have for you is China General Nuclear Power (HKSE: 1816). It is the chinese state-owned nuclear energy producer, and as you may know, China is planning on at least tripling its nuclear energy output over the next 10-15 years, so it is safe to assume that CGN has a great roadmap ahead. Their cash flows are insane, though not accounting for depreciation (important in the context of nuclear power plants), hence looking at their earnings figures make more sense. And from that perspective too, they look great. They have shown consistent earnings, and are currently trading at a roughly 7.5 P/E, and are paying our a nice ~5% dividend yield.

I would truly love to hear about your thoughts on this company, as I am fearing to be overlooking some risks! In any case, I have recently allocated 5% of my portfolio to this company as their industry is (in my opinion) the future, it rides the macro waves of China’s economic growth and their energy plan, and it already creates great returns at a fair price.

Let us know what you think 🙂 Thanks, and take care.

    1. Never, ever invest in markets or part of markets that can be subject to political control. And especially markets where the government can randomly confiscate property & business.

  8. I will just invest year in and year out🙂 like i have done the last 10 years. Have really changed my life. I dident find you sven before 2019 but better late than never. But i have been doing mostly like you teach here. So yes im very well of compared to my colleges in my work. 😊

  9. Thanks Sven for your calm insights as always – tra li tra la 🙂

During the inflationary era of the 1970s, Buffett told Fortune magazine:
The arithmetic makes it plain that inflation is a far more devastating tax than anything that has been enacted by our legislatures. The inflation tax has a fantastic ability to simply consume capital. … If you feel you can dance in and out of securities in a way that defeats this inflation tax, I would like to be your broker – not your partner!

  10. Thanks for reminding everyone that these low interest rates were a form of financial engineering. I would go further: it was a form of subsidie on the rich. Which people should remember when they judge the US government for giving money directly to (poor) people.

  11. Thanks again Sven always down to set aside time for your videos. Would love to hear your thoughts on some socks if you have time to chat. Been getting into ticker CUK as a
RISK ON recovery play long-term. And hoping I’ll trap some great yield as well on the dividend. Maybe you have some thoughts to share in an upcoming video?

  12. Dr. Carlin, if we do get a 1970s style stagflation with boom and busts, how does value company perform during this period of time? Do we just keep accumulating value stock when the busts/dips happens?

  13. The point about central bank debt doesn’t look at the other side of the equation, assets. The world economy has grown even faster than those debts, and with more & more countries developing into consumer societies, increasing the size of the overall market & related assets, it’s by no means clear whether debt formation cannot continue without risking a 1930s style economic crash.
