  1. a good entry point to short tesla was in this summer’s rally. shorting now is kind of stupid, just wait for tesla to jump again for a quick rally. i made a lot of money shorting tesla with average entry was around 302, i kept adding as it went up from ~290 to about 314, started closing my positions under 200.

  2. Tesla charging stations everywhere around my area are very full, but all gas station chains are adding chargers (but i think tesla users prefer charging at the mall than at the 7/11)

    1. He did explain that the options on Tesla are too expensive because of the volatility, that’s why he’s just shorting.

  3. Question: Would Sven short TSLA with a real account? My thoughts on the value investing mantra is that shorting stocks is a no-go option.

    1. I guess it is easy to short when you have no real money on the line. I held short positions this year for the first time and even then only with OOM call options to limit tail risk.

    2. @domino 65 lol i click on every video sven pushes anyway. extra points for shocked or faces and background fire.

    1. I know, these YouTube stock “experts” make some of the most bonehead decisions. Pretending Tesla is just another auto company is absurd. Like it should have a PE of 10…lol. Tesla is involved in so many things. It’s a fast growing technology company.

    2. Honestly I disagree cus if you listen to what Peter Lynch says, “They’d like to go short the thing at 13, but it’s when it gets down to 6 or 5 or 4 that they get in and short the hell out of it.” Sumin like that anyways, they’re generally a cautious breed and making sure retail interest and hype are out first is prolly the way to go.

    3. @Dhiraj Meenavilli agreed especially when we are looking at retail darling like Tesla that has a lot of emotion surrounding it.

  4. Given the expectations on Tesla to become the biggest car maker a PE of around 50 is reasonable. But I think people are setting their expectations too high.

    1. DM right away I have something new for you all ✍️✍️✍️🔥🔥🔥

  5. Life is full of high highs and low lows.
And then there are core-memories you’ll always treasure when you’re old and grey.
This thumbnail is one of these core-memories that I will always cherish. Thank you.

  6. When you go long you have to be right about direction. When you short you have to be right about direction and timing

  7. I feel like when you are playing with paper money nothing really matters, if you are right you can say that you are a genius and if you’re wrong you didnt lose anything tangible. Generally I appreciate your value investing advice but when it comes to speculative things like this you should put your money where your mouth is or it really doesnt matter. Personally I think Tesla will keep growing, it’s a very innovative company and cant be compared with copycats like KIA, the same reason Apple is doing great after decades of companies copying their products.

  8. Tesla chargers are quite heavily used, depending on the area but their goal is to build charging infrastructure so that you can drive everywhere in the world, so you’ll see many remote chargers with low usage. I’ve made lots of money by being long Tesla and small amount of money by shorting it. From the current price I wouldn’t go either long or short.

  9. I agree with this short. Tesla lied about self driving to stay in business. People bought into it and they were able to raise 20 billion or so. I think they will do great in the USA but Europe is a different story with a lot of competition and so is Asia with companies like Kia Hyundai etc. the story for tech company was self driving and it clearly hasn’t happened

    1. we will see over time 🙂 But keep in mind, this is the educational, fun portfolio.

  10. To me it doesn’t necessarily make a great stock to short. I see the potential growth and think its nice to own 1 or a few shares for in the future.

  11. My understanding of shorting is that it is best done with companies that are inherent garbage (i.e. going to zero)…you mention the fundamentals, which are extremely good (so you don’t believe it’s going to zero). Also, the PEG ratio is not egregious…Given that you teach that cheaper is better/more attractive, at what price do you think it would be a good value?

  12. I have tried my hands at short selling, with mediocre results. Usually, those that worked out well for me were overhyped, unprofitable companies with no moat and a ton of debt on their balance sheet (think ARK stocks). I do think Tesla is overpriced, but I have lost some money in the past by betting against good companies just because I perceive them to be too expensive.

  13. Hi Sven, watched your recent interview with cooper.
some of us dont mind the 1 idea from 50 years barron’s and a portfolio of 1-2 stocks.
would you consider in the future making relevant content for what is less “marketable”?
in any case we really appreciate you, thanks for everything!
