  1. This is a heartfelt message, Brandon. Those who follow you for years already know how selective you guys are with the sponsors. And we follow you as we trust you guys are genuinely sincere in your videos. That being said, there will always be some rude that just need to be ignored. I said the same to Adrian (the Canadian in a tshirt). Just ignore them. ❤

  2. Having sponsorship is completely fine to me, I am sure you did your research on your potential sponsors before accepting them. I also really enjoy your individual stock picks content, hope you will still make a stock pick video once in a while, have a good day❤

  3. I appreciate there are people like you to keep the content creation both ethically mindful and financially viable, without compromising quality. Will continue to support.

  4. We know you gotta eat! Keep up the great work. Your sponsor partners are smart to select you guys as you won’t lead us astray.

  5. Appreciate you guys for always being open and honest about your approach and direction with the channel. I also live in Vancouver, so I’m aware of how expensive everything is! Could use some extra dollars myself if I’m being honest… LOL

  6. LET’S GOOO! I have no problem with sponsorships in YOUR channel. I know you and Marc put in the effort to provide us with high-quality information. I would even encourage having guests from your sponsorships more often. Having said that, I do miss the individual stock picks (research), stock battles, and updates on the Questrade and WS portfolio. Cheers!

  7. Brandon, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you are a Canadian treasure! 💎 Thank you brother for having my back and for being so open and transparent with this video 🙏 We’ve talked about it many times and you know I still feel “icky” about sponsorships but you summed it up perfectly: it’s a necessary part of running a YouTube business. As long as you are still being selective, prioritizing education and only promoting services that you truly believe in and provide value to your audience. No amount of money is worth losing that trust and sincerity. As a fan and as a colleague, I respect you and Marc so much for that 🙌

    1. Side note on Masterworks, I remember getting those emails years ago. I’m glad I turned them down, but boy are they persistent! 😅 In fact, I have a whole folder in my email called “JUNK Sponsors” it could be fun to share some of the most ridiculous partnerships that we turn down on a daily basis 😆

  8. I like your channel and I am a YouTuber too so I thought I’d weight in. Maybe consider doing ads that are not related to the video topic at all sometimes, so that it’s clearly an ad and doesn’t bias the video in any way. An ad for BMO or moomoo might feel biased to the audience, but an ad for Skillshare or HelloFresh doesn’t give any impression of bias. If people don’t like any ads at all, well… too bad. That’s just the price you pay for free content as a viewer. Yeah it would be great if YouTubers didn’t have to do ads at all, but the bank doesn’t let you pay your mortgage with likes and subscribes. 🤷‍♂

  9. I’ve been a subscriber for 6+ years now and you + Marc have literally taught me all I know about investing (It has changed my life). Seeing SKIPPABLE ads and sponsorships on your videos is seriously such a small “price” to pay. I couldn’t afford a financial advisor or online courses to learn about investing so you guys making these videos for free is invaluable. Thanks for being transparent about this!

  10. Love your transparency, Brandon! And I understand the channel doesn’t live from light and fresh water. YT ad revenu partially fund the channel, and the channel needs external funding to grow and create content. About sponsorship, I know you are selecting the best, and I don’t mind watching them; you and your dad has credibility, even if you may not have these products in your portfolio. Continue to you and your dad the very best, and still have my support! 🙌🙌 Hope to see you back in Montréal in 2025!

  11. You guys have been a staple in my Youtube viewing and I have learned so much about investing from you! I appreciate you addressing this. I think for me, the problem is I can no longer truly receive your teachings without bias anymore. This especially touchy as the topic of the channel is investing. You will no doubt promote the ETF’s etc that are paying your bills and not necessarily the best ideas of the times for stocks etc because of this sponsorship-styled approach. Ive never looked to you or anyone as “stock pickers” but I always appreciated your non bias ideas and info. It was what drew me to the channel. True teaching! It now feels more mainstream and like another financial/ investing organization that is geared towards getting you into their product(s). I see the predicament, but for me anyway, as a DIY investor I am not as drawn to your content for learning anymore. I do enjoy Marks weekly market updates and I still think you’re both awesome humans and appreciate you! (I loved your old school teaching videos for what it’s worth those were super:)

  12. Your channel helped me tremendously as I started out my investing journey Feb 2023 and just learning about investing. I always include your channel that I recommend to people that want to learn about investing. Thank you for all the help you have given me and keep up the great work! You, Canadian in a T-shirt and Mountain Finance should be on everyone’s playlist to learn and grow

  13. I admittedly don’t read thru all the comments on the videos I watch, but I’m surprised that you’re getting so much criticism for sponsorships. It’s obvious to me that you’re being very selective in who you allow on your channel and what’s promoted. I know this will sound arrogant, but not all viewers are created equal. The best ones appreciate the service you and Marc provide and understand the need for sponsorships. Keep doing what you’re doing Brandon because you’re doing it the right way. Onward & upwards!!

  14. For me, the value of the content is worth sitting through brief plugs, and skipping ads. As long as you are comfortable with whom you’ve partnered, I have enough trust in your integrity. Thanks for the education in planning my financial future.

  15. Hey Brandon, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sponsorships! The ones talking negatively are just a small minority of your followers, I can almost guarantee it. They’re just the loudest in the comments. Keep running the channel the way you and Mark are—it’s going great!

  16. I don’t watch all of your videos, but I get the sentiment about the ads. Think of this: you are a lifestyle brand… ultimately the content you are creating is driven towards a group of people who are drawn towards investing and a specific lifestyle. The ads should be congruent with that brand, and ultimately the criticism towards the ads are when the product is incongruent to the lifestyle you are representing.

  17. I’m not against the ads (I mean I run ads on my channel). I think the problem with finance channels is that if you only promote one platform then there could be better options that may be over looked or not mentioned because of sponsorships.

  18. I think the selective ads from any channels in general are acceptable. Sometimes, we see the ads, and we are exposed to something that we might need, but we wouldn’t know if we didn’t see it from a Youtube channel.

  19. I rarely comment on YouTube, but I’ve been a long time subscriber and I just want to say, do what you have to do to keep the channel alive and live a sustainable live. Your channel is worth it, your content is worth it. Thank you both!
