  1. please stop selling out to these leveraged ETFs or at the very least disclose that they are paying you to shill them. No one that is a beginner investor should be using leverage

    1. I’m rarely this blunt when I respond to comments, but this will be an exception. Get Real.

In the video itself, Brandon notes at least three times that Horizons has sponsored/partnered with us for the video. The video starts with that disclosure.
In the video description, it literally says:
“Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. Disclaimer:
The video has been paid for in part by Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc.”
If that doesn’t meet your threshold of disclosure, too bad.

I hadn’t seen the video before, but did watch it after reading your comment. The video clearly, and I mean clearly, explains there are a number of different investing styles, and each investor can choose what they feel is appropriate for themselves. To suggest that the video is irresponsibly encouraging ‘beginner investors” to use leverage is laughable. Not sure who you are to tell everyone with money to invest how to manage their portfolios but I suggest you focus on what’s best for you, not the universe of investors.

After having watched the video there isn’t a word that is misleading, confusing, etc. It’s a clear explanation of how Horizon’s ETF lineup can help many, many investors. It’s actually a very well thought out presentation.

I could go on and on, but I’ve got better things to do today. – Marc

    2. @new_deal99 Marc has a point. They did disclose that they were sponsored by Horizons at the start. I see where you are coming from though, I also think that the ETFs they suggest like Horizons and Hamilton are nothing more than pyramid schemes and cringe when they are being showered with praise. But it’s not our job to protect new investors from YouTube “influencers”. Best you can do is just not watch the channel. And while I agree with you, I still like Marc a lot and wish he had his own channel 🙂

    3. In my opinion, this video is brilliant. It gives the option for younger and older people to look at opportunities other than picking stocks or want to have a more diversified portfolio. It is an educational video and hundreds benefit from it.

  2. Great video on the new Horizons ETFs, Brandon! This past week I just added the HBNK ETF (and the covered call counterpart, BKCC, to my portfolio…so sticking to my hybrid strategy). Of course, the lower MER fees helps too – 0.00% on HBNK until next July.

  3. You should have also mentioned their tri etfs, where you get no distributions along the way and are only taxed on the capital gains/losses once you decide to sell. These unique offerings are also very useful to certain individuals. I’m considering them.

  4. This commercial brought to you by Brandon Beavis. At least you have integrity to disclose it upfront.

  5. The volumes are way too low. For example CANL only had 50 shares traded on Friday. Not good if you are looking to possibly buy or sell. Just something to think about

  6. As a real estate investor now transitioning to more passive stock dividends I love learning from you guys as well as Adriano at PII investing
My personality & point of my life I find I’m going half growth & half income (as having those dividends coming in is very encouraging as I wait for growth to increase over many years ) 🎉

  7. I’ve set up that HBNK to become an 8% of my taxable portfolio as I’m excited about the growth plus low fees on this one 🙂

  8. This video is like a commercial for Horizons. Not a fan of you guys going in this direction, promoting products from sponsors. Just my two cents, for what it’s worth. I personally love your channel due to you guys being impartial, and that gives you the credibility and trust from viewers.

  9. If you want to invest in Horizons or any other ETF paying more than 10% dividend, do it while you’re young. That way you have many years left to financially recover.
