  1. The perfect way to make a movie about a guy who stole millions on Wall Street is to have it financed by a guy who stole millions from Wall Street.

    1. @MrPaxio Umm, since when is “4 billion” not a lot of money? Whether in RM or USD, that amount of money can cover someone’s entire life and their children and grandchildren!

  2. Kudos to these investigative reporters. Imagine, not only their perseverance but their courage because theirs can be a life threatening line of work.

  3. The fact that the corrupt politicians in Malaysia can still walk freely and campaigning political elections without any punishment killed me inside

    1. do a piece on south africa’s curration. It probably is as big or even bigger then 1MDB. Jacob Zuma had $500 million of Muammar Gaddafi money at his $20mil house (he build with tax payer money ) for safe keeping.

  4. The best part of the book was when Belfort realized that Jho Low was a con man right away. Takes one to know one.

  5. I love Malaysia, as a foreigner who lived two years there. However corruption there is somewhat truly disappointing, as to how it is sometimes overlooked by its own parliament. Hopefully, the country can be economically strong soon.

    1. Corruption and Nepotism existed way before Najib in many countries everywhere. I’m laughing because everyone seems to be in shock and don’t want to face the music that this is part and parcel of politics. Corruption in Malaysia is honestly not as “expensive” in other countries. KSA asks for bribes in the hundreds of thousands- they just don’t talk about it. Here it’s “RM10 for my pocket money.”

People pay taxes here, and some races are not happy. They can pay taxes in Europe- no complaint (white worshippers) but not in a Muslim country – it’s considered “stealing their money.”

Now, I’m laughing back at the failed GE and knew it was gonna happen.

Oh, boohoo if no one can face the reality of how politics work. Idiots are idiots if they think that the PM makes sole decisions- (oops, the 4th PM did for his own advantage ) but a shocker? Hell NO!!

    2. They couldn’t care less , all they are waiting for is their turn to be in that position so they can profit them selves , like any other politician in any other country . Left or right doesn’t matter , they are there for for 2 things MONEY and POWER

  6. Mistake that was made; Jo saw power as him being known, while his power would’ve been greater if he was unknown

    1. exactly! why. be rich and popular, when you can be rich without being popular and a well known public figure.

    2. He sold the idea to those who has greater power and share his ambitions. He was given the key by the great one to open the doors to ‘heaven’ 🤑

    3. @jake lawliet the founder of pornhub is relatively unspoken of. He keeps a silent and low profile while making millions. That’s smart.

  7. As a Malaysian, im so happy that this is still being talked about years after. Corruption and nepotism is so real in this country.

    1. But as a Malaysian, I hate to tell you this: we are losing the war. The rakyat are hardly putting up a fight.

  8. If he would have not been discovered so soon, he might have actually succeeded. I bet many billionaires were made like this!

    1. How has he not succeeded? He’s still living the high life, although he is now restricted to traveling around China, who is undoubtedly sheltering him.

  9. When the entire financial system is practically unregulated , it just promotes corruption at every level . Catching criminals in finance is like hoping one criminal is angry enough to snitch on another criminal for stealing money from him.

  10. i did some research on this case to relate it into my presentation on MY code corporate governance for my on9 class and its truly shocking to see it in more deeper views there’s so many people involved but its crazy to know jho low was the mastermind behind it.

  11. It’s truly embarrassing to see the ex-PM walks freely, even had the audacity to request a 100mil home as a gift from the gov. the worst part is the gov approved the gift. smh

    1. Apa malu boss.
      Who approves that land?
Walking freely as a convict really baffle many. It truly double standard. I like to see someone found guilty of stealing milk powder for her pitiful baby is allow home and free with her family while her lawyer’s appeal for her case. Probably not!

    2. There gift too
      Home prob was much less
The leftovers going to gov people
      That they approved it
Imagine if the real estate costed 20m
And the rest of 80 goes on pockets
But on paper the property was sold 100

  12. I find it amazing this person was able to get away with this theft without all the other
staff, managers, accountants etc. not knowing millions of dollars was being stolen

    1. when you have that much money and you have connection in china, u are set for live. This dude will not go anywhere out of china

  13. As a kid he grew up around the wealthy… crazy to think that feelings of envy at such a young age can shape the course of one’s life so dramatically

    1. It may not be envy every time. Sometimes hanging around rich people shapes your mentality. It makes a person think the way Rich people do, conduct bussiness like the rich. And most of the time end up doing deals that earn them millions. I know many people like that personally.

    2. It’s the same way people growing up in gang run areas see these guys with tons of cash compared to the working class and are envied leading to kids getting involved. They really aren’t that different it’s just violent crime and drug sales vs white collar crime

    3. He just realized it means nothing, he didn’t have the cover of actually being in those families
