Woo, 12 hours for 6 days straight and 1 day off? Man, Chinese are ready to pump out some Tesla’s. I don’t think anyone in the US could get 8000 people in the same company to do the same. People are already upset at working 40hr weeks
@filippxxx maybe office rats?
@filippxxx And they can’t compete.
I know a number of people who work 80 hours a week in the SF Bay Area
@Cynthia Tan Exactly!
@filippxxx And some EU countries have 40 hours (ie. Hungary).
I think the stock movement is going to be relatively unremarkable for the first half of 2022. But once Shanghai is fully back online and Berlin / Austin start reaching scale… things are going to get nutty. I’m guessing late 2022 / early 2023 is going to be when we start seeing some major upwards movement. Said differently, it’s accumulation time!
Definitely agree
Excited about restart production, but also poor workers, I hope they get some bonus for their hard works
They like it.
How come Adjusted EBITDA is lower for q1 ’22 than q4 ’21? All the other numbers says it should be opposite from what I can see, but maybe I’m missing something?
I hope the Afghan refugees are doing well. Whatever happens to the TSLA stock next week, next month or next year, I know it’ll do well long-term. Thank you, Tesla Shanghai workers, for your exceptional efforts!
…exceptional efforts, sure, like they have a choice.
Sounds like harsh working conditions, I hope they get compensated well and receive good food and comfortables places to sleep. We should expect and demand that for our professionals as Tesla shareholders.
Yea, I worked similar hours in Australia, Its OK for awhile and probably better than the alternatives in Shanghai, travelling would be a pain.
Sounds better than being locked in your apartment with no food.
12 hours a day, 6 days a week vs 8 hours a day 4 days a week. I am surprised, given such high output Q4 last year, I thought they were working 12 hours 7 days a week! In Asia, 12 hours, 6 day week can be normal and welcomed because there’s overtime pay. I used to work those hours once upon a time. I learned a lot in the job because I was always doing it! Made long lasting friendships with my co-workers because we were in the same boat. We did not sleep in the office though. I remembered taking a taxi home at 2-3am and friends laugh at me because only social escorts and prostitutes go home during those hours! It was fun but tiring. I was very young then.
@Ivy Tan I live/work in Vietnam. I’m Ops Manager at a thermal power plant and my guys work 9 hours shifts. 12 hour shifts are not common. The whole time I was working shiftwork earlier in my career was spent on 12 hours shifts. The gov’t implements a lot more strict requirements to reduce working time. Overtime is strictly limited and shift differential and holiday premium is severe. Our guys make 390% when they work night shift on a holiday.
The people in Shanghai are in total lockdown and starving. I guess it’s better than the alternative I hope their families are being taken care of too.
I dont remember you mentioning price increases, that would push up earnings right?
I think Q2 may trend neutral or even slightly up. Berlin and Austin are online and producing so I think they may make up for lost production during Shanghai closure.
Thank you! Now we just have to wait for the actual numbers. I do wish the call will give useful information on the 4680s
Thanks for numbers, Dave!
Can’t wait to watch your update on Q1
I used to work factory shut down jobs doing electrical upgrades and work those 12hr 6 day weeks, absolutely brutal.
And they have to *stay* at the factory, too. That’s just ridiculous
I don’t see why 2Q should necessarily be a “one off” quarter, especially when factoring the ramp up of Berlin and Austin. We’ll see. $TSLA 🚀
I don’t see how FSD is going to materially impact Q1. They started that prioritization scheme in March, and there’s no way they delivered any of those in the same month. It also looks your Q2 e# substantially underestimates Berlin and Texas, so I’m hoping you’re wrong there. Otherwise, great analysis!
Love the channel. I think you’re being bearish on deliveries in H2. I predict Q4 production to be 550,000 at least, as the two new factories will ramp quickly. This ain’t Tesla’s first rodeo 🙂 Also, Shanghai has a significant (33% ?) expansion that almost complete (slightly delayed due to the recent shutdown).
Thanks back at you Go Dave Go. Your the best 🙂👍🙏
its 4/20, you really think Elon wont be on Call? I’d say HE”LL be 100% on CALL today
Thanks for your hard work Dave!
Another great video, thank you.
I would expect to see expenses to accommodate the workers in the factories.
