  1. Do all Tesla’s leaving the factory have to be driven by someone or are any autonomous, parking and moving to railheads or docks by themselves?
    Really enjoy both your discussions.

  2. 3+ hours? You two are mad 🙂 Thank you – now lets listen (and feed the dogs, cook, eat, clean, wash myself all while listening)

  3. When I tell people FSD is safer then me they say because I am supervising. But that isn’t why and James seems to understand this. It’s because it has 8 camera’s monitoring all around me. It has done a few “unsafe” things, but over the course of me being in Beta, less then I would have by myself. Most of my “takeovers” is because it is in the wrong lane, or does a jerky turn or is too slow to react or just doesn’t want to do the route the way I would. I recently got back from a 1200 mile trip to a town I have never driven in. I used it extensively, because it could drive me to where I wanted to go and being new to the town I had no clue where everything was. My sister could be me directions, but it was just easier to tell nav where I wanted to go and let FSD drive. It wouldn’t always go the way my sister would go, but as I had no knowledge of what way was best, it opened my eyes on how good FSD really was.

    1. I completely enjoy using Autopilot on the highway, but FSD beta raises my anxiety level really high with city driving, especially when there is a lot of traffic. And I’m on the latest update, in my opinion it’s still not that great.

    2. @Dan I know what you are talking about. Driving through Dallas in rush hour it wasn’t that great. Or any big city driving. For me that is because it is too slow to react. Takes to long to change lanes. Doesn’t merge fast enough. When changing lanes in rush hour in a big city, when you put your blinker on they expect you to move right away. not wait 4 or 5 seconds to see if the traffic is going to speed up and close the gap on you. The car needs to move quicker and abort only after it finds out some jerk is going to cut it off. I think the potential is there though. But FSD can do the drive, it’s the human drivers that are the problem.

  4. Dave, I like your interviews with James Douma the most compared to other interviewers. You give him all the time he needs to answer, and he has so much interesting to say.

  5. When I started taking flying lessons in 1996, I had a choice. . . I could get a proper Private Pilot’s Licence, and progress to a Night Rating, VFR over the top. . . all the “good stuff”, including taking multiple passengers and flying across the border into the US.

Or, for a lot less money, and less stringent medical requirements, I could get a “Sport Pilot “ licence . . But, it would have meant being limited to ONE passenger, daylight only, and bring limited to flying within Canada’s borders.

This is how I compare Tesla’s FSD to the “other guys’ “ geofenced versions of Robotaxis.

FSD means FREEDOM to have the car take me anywhere, limited ONLY by my imagination

  6. James seems WAY more comfortable talking on camera. I’d dare say it’s even fun for him. Certainly awesome to watch.

  9. Blew my mind with how well you broke down the language model. Completely clicks with me now. Really appreciate these videos.

I’ve been dabbling in stable diffusion and Dall-E recently. “interrogating” images to get the grammar of a picture as I understand how to build sentences. Makes me feel like I’m almost like FSD in that regard. Also makes me appreciate these AI more.

  10. I am doing my Masters in AI right now and every single one of these videos with James Douma are so friggen interesting to watch! Thank you so much! Please MORE I can’t get enough!
