I WAS WRONG (Ep. 687)

Why in the world is Elon Musk "pedaling to the medal" to make 1000 GWh of battery cell production in the U.S., vertically integrated?

    1. Being wrong is the first step to being right As long as you are not totally wrong!!! Less wrong means you are taking the right amount of risk.

  1. Elon is a futurist and a genius with decades of experience in manufacturing, rockets, and technology… of course we don’t see what he sees… i eat sand

  2. Caught that yesterday Dave! Thanks for the correction haha napkin math is one of the most important aspects of this process but we get it wrong sometimes love you man!

  3. Crazy!!!! I watched Lee with Tesla Economist, and he used the correct math, which had me doing the math myself- three times to make sure it was correct. This is an insane amount of storage, and putting it in terms of vehicle batteries helps conceptualize it. Yes, I know it’s not all for cars, but it’s an easy-to-understand metric.
    Thanks, Dave!

    1. But
      How will they make them?
      What form factor?
The 4680 system is developed for speed of production and maximum GWh *leaving the factory*
      .
If it’s another form factor and or not dry process, that hits the cost very hard.

  4. I was cautious of your quiet intellect – until I literally “felt” your jubilation on AI day!! Great vids!! It was then I realized you’re a human being – a bit like me. So… my 1st comment to you:

THANK YOU, DAVE!🏆! YOU’VE BEEN A JOY & INSPIRATION TO LEARN FROM. YOU’RE A SPOT-ON, DATA DRIVEN, MUSK & TSLA INVESTIGATOR.🎯 MUCH APPRECIATION FOR YOUR BRILLIANT WORK. 🌌🌌🌌

  5. Hey Dave, Wouldn’t the energy storage side of Tesla need a whole bunch of cells as well? To get the costs down, the battery production would probably include LFP battery chemistry which would be enough for the lower price vehicles and Megapacks/Powerwalls. How many years out do you think it would take before the new vehicle launch to market (not prelaunch)? Would you think it would be 2025 ish timeframe?

    1. Sure but With the way things are moving ,I think I need to see a video on “how to survive amidst the present recession “.I mean everything in shambles
Surprisingly I heard people still make over a 100k within a few months ,and i’d like to know how and if it’s still possible in these times or am I being lazy.

    2. Agree. Understanding and admitting error is the only way to correct the error otherwise the error will be repeated. Unfortunately, men like Dave are becoming the exception rather than the rule in this zero tolerance for error world.

  6. Thanks Dave for explaining. It astonishes me every time when I get an inside view of Elon Musk’s thoughts, this man is out of this world.

  7. This must be the best interpretation error anyone could make. Thank you Dave. Please don’t make this errors too often, I think every one would agree, that once a year would make us all very happy. To everyone who reads me. They are tough days, a minimal miss and Tesla enemies are immediately at Tesla throat, and building up the worse scenario possible often with strait out lies. Hang on, Tesla is the absolute leader in many high tech fields, the demand for Tesla EV will never cease, because no one is close to Tesla magnificent EV full of unique high tech contents. While the competitors are trying to gain market share by proposing nice looking EV cars, but when inspected closer they are nothing else than ICE shells with electric motors never close to Tesla performance and efficiency numbers, and definitely not as safe as Tesla.

  8. Yo Dave, ‘pedal to the metal’ is an expression that describes pushing an accelerator pedal to the floor, ie accelerating as fast as possible. Pedalling is what you do on a bicycle. So there’s no such thing as ‘pedalling to the metal’.

  9. New vehicle platform aimed to be half the cost of 3/Y platform is outstanding. It would be a Tesla, so it will have great value, for half the cost. Demand will be so high for this vehicle, it’s quite unfathomable. And Model Y is already about to be the best selling vehicle. Tesla is still getting started, and that’s just regarding vehicles. Insane company

  10. When we do something wrong its how we respond and fix the error /‘s The important thing to remember the mainstream news and analysts still don’t have a clue.Keep up the good work that you are doing Dave us little retail investors know whom to trust !

  11. Great catch Dave. We all make mistakes, but it’s a mark of character to be able to call out yourself and make it right. The numbers are looking… Nutty! Thanks for your hard work.

  12. What I love about Dave’s channel is that while I focus more on macroeconomics and catalysts events that can impact Tesla stock on my channel, Dave focuses much more on fundamentals, which over time is matters as prices eventually catch up to fundamentals.
